Here’s a story to make your heart sing…in the latest newsletter from Spucecourt Public School, they describe how their music teacher, Mr. Bristow, was surprised to receive a donation from TD Bank and what he did with it.
It seems that a number of months ago, Mr. Bristow told his bank manager at TD how much he loves teaching music to students. Recently, Mr. Bristow arrived to work and was surprised when his bank manager entered his classroom and gave him a cheque for $20,000 in aid of his efforts. He was also told that he was heading to local music store Long and McQuade, to buy instruments for the school. $7,500 later…xylophones, drums and keyboards were heading to Sprucecourt.
Paying the generosity forward, Mr. Bristow decided to donate the rest of the money toward an organization called Musicounts who then purchased instruments for nearby Rose and Winchester schools.
There was an assembly held this past Monday afternoon and Mr. Bristow was showing the students what he had purchased for the school when one more surprise occurred when his favourite Canadian artist, Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter, Sam Roberts, got up on stage and performed with Mr. Bristow.
Congratulations to Mr. Bristow, thanks to TD Bank and good luck to the children learning how to play. There was no word on whether any funds had been set aside for ear-plugs for parents.
