Community Event – Sprucecourt P.S. Open House

Dear Cabbagetown Parents,
Beginning in September 2012, the local public school in the Cabbagetown area will be Sprucecourt Public school, located on Spruce Street. If you have a child born in 2008 or after, Sprucecourt will be their home school.
The Chairs of the DVCRA Schools Portfolio have been working hard to disseminate information about our local schools in order to help parents make informed decisions about their options regarding schools in the neighbourhood. In response to our schools survey results, which showed a distinct absence of Cabbagetown children from the Sprucecourt population, we have been working with the Principal at Sprucecourt, Baila Goldfarb, to organise an open house for prospective parents.
If you have a child born in 2008 or after, please join us on Thursday, March 1st from 3:15-4:00pm in the Parenting Centre at Sprucecourt Public School. Leah Kearny, an Early Years Instructional Leader for the Toronto District School Board will be speaking about Full Day Kindergarten, and Baila Goldfarb will be giving tours of the Kindergarten rooms and answering questions you might have. We also have a few parents whose children are currently enrolled at Sprucecourt available to answer any questions, from a parent’s perspective, that you may have.
If you have any questions or topics you would like addressed, please send them to. info@cabbagetowner.com in advance of the open house.
We hope to see you at this event, and please forward this email to neighbours with children who may not be members of the DVCRA. Even if you have already made a decision regarding schooling, or it seems a long way in the future, you are welcome to come and see the school for yourself, meet future classmates and learn more about this neighbourhood gem.
