Hosted by Heritage Toronto, this tour is free but a $10 donation is suggested.
Take a stroll down Winchester Street, known as “stroller alley” for the children taken to Riverdale Farm on weekends. Learn about the street’s long history connecting people and institutions — including Riverdale Zoo, Necropolis cemetery, and Riverdale Park — as the main route between the area and Toronto’s downtown before 1918.
NOTE: The tour travels mainly on flat sidewalks, but includes one steep hill.
Start Point: Eastern end of Winchester Street (200 Winchester Street)
End Point: Winchester Street Public School (15 Prospect Street, west side of the building)
