Throwback Thursday: There Used To Be A Parliament Streetcar Route

Sure, there are a few spots where streetcar routes run along Parliament St. for a block or two before heading east or west, but there used to be a streetcar route that extended all the way north to Bloor St. (although it never did connect with the Castle Frank Subway station). There were three routes running along Parliament St. by 1910 but after various iterations, the final short-turn occurred in 1966.

If you’re interested in Toronto transit history, this article on the Parliament Streetcar, with pictures of the area at the time, is well worth a visit.
