We have received multiple reports from residents about a coyote that has been seen in the lower part of Riverdale Park West and around Riverdale Farm. Although not unusual to see coyotes in the area due to the proximity of the Don Valley, the coyote has been approaching dogs giving concern to dog owners in the area.
The City of Toronto has a number of tips on how to handle a coyote sighting either around your home or while walking your dog in a park.

Perhaps this might be of use to others. There have been sittings of a coyote in very, very close proximity to park goers (farm and down by the baseball pits) and their dogs. Outdoor cats are fair game and best to keep a great distance if one runs into the coyote.
