Congratulations to the winners of the 2016 Holiday Card Contest!
Students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 at Sprucecourt and Winchester Park public schools submitted holiday-themed artwork and our three volunteer judges – artists Doug Panton, Sylvie Daigneault and Michael Cavanaugh – had a tough time picking just four winners: two at each school, one from the primary grades (JK to 4) and the second from the junior grades (5 to 8). Those winners get their artwork framed plus a pizza party for their class; their artworks grace this year’s Cabbagetown Residents Association Holiday Cards, being delivered throughout the neighbourhood. The judges, who met for an afternoon at Merryberry Restaurant on Parliament, picked four honorable mentions, as well, and proprietor Cecil spontaneously offered to provide a gift certificate for a hot chocolate beverage for each of these students. Thanks, Cecil! And thanks to CRA volunteer Lindsay Matheson, who helped the board directors with this project.
