We are excited to put the spotlight this month on one of our Forsythia Festival Gold sponsors, Tony Lafazanis. Tony is a Cabbagetowner through and through. He first moved to the neighbourhood in 1986 living on Gifford Street and later moved to Spruce Street where he now lives with his wife Ghislaine and their two kids. More recently, Tony decided to move his business to the neighbourhood as well. In 2013 Tony’s law practice took up office space at the newly constructed TD building at the corner of Parliament and Carlton Streets. Tony is the main face of his busy law practice focused on personal injury law and insurance disputes. Of his move to bring work “home” he said he wishes he had done it years ago. He is getting to enjoy more of the community during the daytime hours and is making it home for dinner more often than ever. As the newly appointed Vice Chair of the Cabbagetown BIA, Tony is also contributing to the neighbourhood in a more formal manner. When Tony isn’t busy keeping Cabbagetown working, he enjoys watching and playing basketball and can often be found having good coffee and conversation at Jet Fuel. The Forsythia Festival Organising Committee certainly appreciates Tony’s dedication to the neighbourhood on both the personal and professional level and was thrilled to add him to their list of Gold donors for 2015. The CRA couldn’t bring such a vibrant and well attended Festival to Cabbagetown without the engagement in local community events by local community members like Tony. The next time you see Tony at his local haunts, give him a nod of recognition in appreciation for all he does for our neighbourhood.
