This is the notice that Linda’s family provided.
WEIR, Linda – Peacefully on October 15, 2015 at the age of 51. Beloved wife of Gord and loving mother of Matthew and Eric; devoted daughter of Check Lai and Wai Ching Low; cherished sister of David, Andrew (Julie), Anne (Kelly) and Sandra (John); nurturing aunt to many adored nieces and nephews; dedicated friend and neighbour. Linda was a lover of life. She was happiest when spreading this love to those around her, to the treasured family that was her bedrock and heart’s centre, as well as to friends both long-standing and brand new. She had the rare and precious gift of being able to connect with people in an effortless, genuine way. With heartfelt presence and a common touch, she took every opportunity to do so. Whether striding confidently down Yonge Street in her iconic green coat delivering homemade baked goods, presiding over the laughs at her dinner gatherings, chatting in one of her many languages, or sharing a quiet heart-to-heart, she naturally drew people into her circle. Admired for her quick wit, her loyalty and her tenacity, she also had a simplicity that drew out the absolute best in those around her. The compassionate nucleus of her family, she also never missed a friend’s birthday, never neglected a commitment she had made and never missed an opportunity to bolster someone who needed a lift. We are all the richer for having had her in our lives. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at Eglinton St. George’s United Church, 35 Lytton Blvd., Toronto, on Thursday, October 22nd at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to The Odette Cancer Centre, c/o Sunnybrook Foundation, 416-480-4483.
