Riverdale Farm update and fundraisers
June 21, 2012
Dear Members,
Progress has been made toward securing an exciting future for Riverdale Farm.
The DVCRA has been an integral part of the Riverdale Farm Coalition, which has been working closely with City Staff, other community-based orgnizations and the Councilor on creating a viable and sustainable plan for the Farm. The business plan will be presented to City council this summer.
The Riverdale Farm coalition engaged with the local and broader community via surveys, public consultations and workshops to better understand the many opportunities and partnerships available to enhance the experience of visiting the Farm and to generate revenue.
The plan will present a feasible and reasonable operating strategy that ensures that Riverdale Farm becomes self sufficient and adds significantly more value to the residents of Toronto.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Consider making a donation to secure the future of Riverdale Farm at
https://torontoparksandtrees.org/riverdale-farm
The Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation is accepting donations on behalf of the coalition and the Farm; all money received will be directed specifically to enhance the Farm. Donations of $10 or more are eligible for a tax receipt.
2. Keep your eyes open for donation boxes that have been set up on the Farm grounds. All donations will be collected and received by the Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation and directed towarded Farm enhancements.
3. Participate in a neighbourhood fundraising event! Bring your family…bring your friends…bring your neighbours! We are celebrating Summer Solstice with a picnic in the paddock at Riverdale Farm.
You are invited to bring your own picnic and dine at the Farm. There will be games for the kids, tables for dining, music and cheer.
