Event – Riverdale Park West Cleanup (April 26)
May 7, 2011 @ 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
It’s spring clean up time again. We’re looking for interested neighbours of all ages to come together for another community event. At our last successful event, we planted 1,000 daffodils and bluebells in the Park; they are now making themselves known!
Please come to Riverdale Park West, meet your neighbours and spend a Saturday lending a hand to help clean up the Park, do some painting and remove invasive undergrowth from the Park hill. Oh … and have a little fun and meet new people.
We’ve coordinated with the City of Toronto’s Parks and Recreation department and set the date for Saturday May 7 at 10:30am. City horticulturists will be present to advise on what species to remove and Parks staff will provide garbage bags, gloves, paint and brushes and will remove all the debris we collect.
As you know, keeping the hillside and its sightlines clear minimizes the type of loitering that causes problems in our community. Your help is integral to keeping our Park safe and enjoyable for all.
On the agenda this spring:
Hillside and area around the clubhouse: pick up garbage, de-root all existing burdock and remove invasive undergrowth to improve the sightlines
Stairs from top to bottom of hill: pick up garbage, remove dead branches and burdock
Traffic guardrails at River and Spruce: remove existing paint and re-paint
We’ll divide the group among these sites and with many hands, we’ll make a big difference by the afternoon.
