Best place in Cabbagetown for a bite to eat…my favourite meal is Masala Dosa at Rashnaa (lentil crepe stuffed with potatoes with spicy sauces to dip in…mmm), but If I’m looking for drinks and snacks, then Stout is my regular!
Cabbagetown needs…a movie theatre. I know it’s a tough business in these days of DVDs and digital downloads so I don’t expect it to happen, but the ability to walk out to a movie is a romantic one to me.
Favourite block…Nasmith Avenue (north-south street that runs from Gerrard to Spruce between Gifford and Sumach). It’s where I’ve lived for the past 11 years and the feeling of community on the street is terrific. The street isn’t too long so most people know each other which is partly due to our annual street BBQ and partly because the people are great.
Best public space…the sidewalk along the west side of Broadview Avenue looking toward Cabbagetown with the high rises of the city in the background.
Favourite store…Labour Of Love. Regina and her super-friendly staff are always so helpful and I know I’m going to find something suitable every time I visit.
Cabbagetown pet peeve…the noise from the Regent Park Community Energy Centre that affects many residents in the southern end of Cabbagetown especially during the summer.
Cabbagetown’s best kept secret…the pathway that leads down Wellesley Park to Rosedale Valley Road (great for leg workouts when jogging).
Best reason to join the Cabbagetown Residents Association (CRA)…to meet and collaborate with other cabbagetown volunteers who care so much about our community.
