Some sad news from the corner of Parliament Street and Spruce Street. Gerry McDermott, the original founder of the Cabbagetown Tree Lot in 1952, passed away in May 2016 (reynoldsfuneral.com). Gerry’s story was written about last year in a Torontoist.com article that you might find interesting.

Our condolences to Gerry’s family and friends.
Note:
An earlier post stated that Peter Vettorel had died, which had been confirmed by a person working at the tree lot who was obviously misinformed. The Cabbagetowner spoke with Peter today and he told us that it was Gerry who had passed, and he wondered why people seemed surprised to see him. My apologies for the confusion.
