Dear resident,
For your information, this weekend River Street will be closed north of Gerrard for watermain construction: Saturday, January 26, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Possibly Sunday, January 27, from 8am to 5pm).
City of Toronto contractors will be closing all north and south bound traffic lanes on River Street north of Gerrard Street. This closure is required in order to remove the tunnel boring machine (TBM) that began its tunnelling journey at Allen Gardens, which is part of the Gerrard Street Watermain Replacement Project.
No vehicle through-traffic will be allowed.
Drivers who need to access or leave property on River Street north of Gerrard Street will be escorted by an on site police officer.
Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrian access, managed by on site workers.
After this weekend, this site will be returned to the current inactive occupation allowing traffic to flow around the fenced-in shaft area.
Thank you for your co-operation and patience during this construction.
