In Memoriam: Nancy White

Sadly, long-time Cabbagetowner Nancy White has died. We learned of her passing in Doug Fisher’s blog where he wrote the following:

Nancy White died recently from the lingering effects of a stroke she suffered several years ago. She loved Cabbagetown – she lived at 340 Carlton for twenty years from 1985 to 2004. She was an active volunteer with Friends of Riverdale Farm. She went to step class with Brenda McNee who remembers her glorious front garden and her strong opinions. She liked to sit in the window at Jet Fuel and to shop at Daniel et Daniel, Terry’s butcher shop, Epicure and Neat Stuff. Her niece, Liz Kingstone, lives on Wellesley Street with her husband Steve Brearton and sons Henry, Simon and Sidney. There will be a celebration of her life on the roof of the Merchandise Building Lofts (155 Dalhousie) at 5 pm on Saturday November 4.

We offer our condolences to Nancy’s family and friends.

Some of the more recent neighbours did not have the luck of knowing Nancy. She was a force of nature and could be seen about Cabbagetown, walking, running and always with a big smile and a hearty laugh. Condolences to her family and friends as well of all who were lucky enough to know her.
