In case you needed any more reasons to stay local and enjoy the Forsythia
Festival this weekend, the City’s Transportation Services division will be performing maintenance activities on the Gardiner Expressway starting this Friday and the Toronto Marathon will be held on Sunday.
Gardiner Expressway
The Gardiner Expressway will be closed from Carlaw Avenue to Highway 427/QEW from 8 p.m. on Friday, May 1 to 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 3 for spring maintenance activities.
The expressway will reopen early on Sunday to help improve traffic conditions during the Toronto Marathon, which takes place on Sunday between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. on various city streets.

Toronto Marathon
A number of streets throughout the city will be affected during the marathon, but here is a list of nearby streets in particular (many thanks to the Corktown Residents and Business Association for compiling this list):
– Bayview Avenue will be closed both ways from Rosedale Valley Road to Lower River between 8 and 11 a.m.
– King East will be closed westbound between River and Sumach between 8 and 11 a.m.
– Sumach Street will be closed both ways between King East and Eastern Avenue between 8 and 10:30 a.m.
– Eastern Avenue will be closed both ways between Sumach and Front between 8 and 10:30 a.m.
– Front Street East will be closed both ways between Eastern and Wellington between 8 and 11:30 a.m.
