The municipal election on October 27, 2014 is over, the polling booths put away for another few years and the signs are (mostly) removed from the streets.
Our congratulations to the successful candidates:
John Tory: Mayor
Pam McConnell: Ward 28 Councillor
Sheila Ward (Toronto District School Board)
Jo-Ann Davis (Toronto Catholic District School Board)
Chloë Robert (Conseil Scolaire de Viamonde)
Marie Fontin (Conseil Scolaire de District Catholic Centre-Sud)
Let’s also recognise the time, effort and expense (oftentimes personal expense) that the many candidates who didn’t win on this occasion, put in to their campaigns. Thank you for your contribution to our democratic process.
Interesting note:
Global News produced an interesting data map showing how individual polls voted in the mayoral race.
You’ll see from this map that some areas of Cabbagetown (south of Spruce St.) are now in a different polling area, and voted at the Regent Park Aquatic Centre instead of at Sprucecourt P.S.
