Residents who use the TTC 506 Carlton Streetcar route should note some changes coming to the route this summer due to construction projects. There are a few phases involved and diversions and frequency changes will change throughout this period.
From June 20 to 26, the westbound 506 Streetcar will divert south on Parliament Street at Gerrard Street E., to Queen Street E. and then turn around at the McCaul Street loop and then return along the same route. The TTC has a map on its site showing the diversion which makes it clearer.
From the official notice:
The TTC is revising the path by splitting the route in two to accommodate upcoming construction at Bathurst and College Streets and at Bathurst and Lansdowne Avenue. It’s operating buses along the west end of the route and streetcars along the east end Mondays to Fridays. It’s operating buses along the entire route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Since buses carry fewer passengers than streetcars, it’s generally increasing the frequency of service west of Parliament Street and decreasing the frequency east of Parliament Mondays to Fridays and along the entire route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Starting Sunday, June 19, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the entire route more frequently than the usual streetcar schedule.
